Banquet Hall at the Tucson Marriott during ISPE-Fest 2005.
ISPE-Fest 2005 featured guest speaker Paul Portney, dean of the Eller College of Management. In his talk, "Climate Change and Public Policy: (Almost) a Win-Win Solution," Dean Portney discussed a possible solution to the climate change problem—a tax on the carbon content of fuels, which has the potential to slow the growth of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and also improve several serious economic problems at the same time.
After Dean Portney's remarks, ISPE awarded prize money to the six winners of the Graduate Student Poster Competition. The event wrapped up after eleven lucky graduate students and professors won door prizes that included admission tickets to the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, an iPod Shuffle, and a number of other goodies graciously donated by businesses, organizations, and individuals in the community.
