Applications are no longer being accepted for the 2007-2008 fiscal year.
The Institute for the Study of Planet Earth (ISPE) is dedicated to supporting disciplinary and interdisciplinary research related to the environment of the Earth, from local to global scales, and how this environment is likely to vary in coming seasons, years, and decades. ISPE works in collaboration with faculty, programs, departments, and colleges across campus to build the research and educational programs needed to understand and deal with environmental variability and the implications of this variability.
In a continued effort to support this collaboration, ISPE invites departments to apply for funds (up to 50 percent of total expenses, $1,000 maximum) to support one speaker per department during each academic year. A university department or program must host the speaker, and graduate students should be involved in the visit.
To qualify for support, the proposed talks must reflect ISPE-related themes and be of interest to individuals outside the home department or program. The speaker must also be available to meet with students and attend one lunch or dinner with ISPE faculty and/or students. Acknowledgment must be made of ISPE's cosponsorship on all involvement of the speaker's visit and talk(s).
For more information, contact Teresa Carochi at 622-9062 or email teresac@email.arizona.edu.
